Will a collaborative child specialist tell us who should get custody?
In the collaborative process, the spouses or father and mother of the child are the decision makers. The collaborative team helps the parents to understand the decision and consider all the options but ultimately it’s up to the parents to decide when they have all the information, parents tend to look out for their children’s best interest. Can they decide that a professional would be a better decision maker? It’s possible. It’s not outside of the collaborative process to do that. It may be very effective within the collaborative process but the collaborative process itself is designed to help parents make the best decisions for their children.
