What is FERPA?

Transcript:

FERPA or the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act protects your student’s information from disclosure to third parties. In order for an attorney or advocate to speak with the school on behalf of your student they require a FERPA release to waive those rights. It’s also important to have this waiver if you’re trying to deal with a school for your adult child who might be 18 just prior to graduation when there are things that have to be done to get him or her ready to graduate, a FERPA release is something you might be asked to sign.
